Alright so as most of you know I am a big fan of Don Omar and have been since I first started listening to the genre. Last year when I heard that he was making his comeback and a new album I was at the edge of my seat. After many changes in the release date for the album, it was finally released this month. If I could describe my thoughts of this album in one word it would be disappointing. A few days ago they put this album on his MySpace for a listening party, just like Alexis y Fido did while promoting their album 'Down To Earth'. Shortly after listening to this album I quickly canceled my preorder on iTunes. The purpose of this website is and has always been to help the artists and grow but if I purchase something that I do not believe is going to take the genre in the right direction then that would make the artist think that what they are doing is right. If you ask me the three songs that Wisin y Yandel have released for their album 'La Revolucion' have been better than this whole album. Don't get me wrong I like it when artists experiment with their music, it makes it more interesting. I find it ok for artists to mess with futuristic sounds but '10,000 years ahead of us' is way too much. I was iffy on this album as soon as I saw the track list. 10 songs? Didn't 'King of Kings' his last album have about 20 songs? Another thing is that the song titles seem like they came out of an episode of Star Trek. Also there were no collabos what so ever. The public found out that Don Omar and Daddy Yankee had squashed their beef late last year and a collaboration with these two would have been perfect. Finally the songs 'Virtual Diva' and 'Blue Zone' are included in the album. Those songs were released in October and are already outplayed for most people. Don is said to release another album this year so let's hope that this is his warm up. This album reminds me of Daddy Yankee's 'Cartel 3: The Big Boss'. Many had high expectations and ended up being disappointed. The difference here is that Cartel had about twice the number of songs this album has and featurings from artists in reggaeton and hip hop. I was not a fan of Cartel but compared to this album it seems like a work of art. Now remember people this review is my opinion, you might not think the same way as I do so I recomend that you preview the songs first before you make a decision on purchasing it or not. The album releases next Tuesday.
